When you receive a shirt to test you think to yourself, “What can I possibly talk about?”  Well a shirt isn’t a shirt and the Ibex Woolie proves this.  The first thing I always notice about any Ibex piece I get is the feel and quality.  Both are top notch and it shows.  Ibex also pays attention to the details.  A perfect example is how the Woolie has 1″ cuffs on the arms.  I have other shirts that have smaller cuffs and they never lay flat which is annoying.  It’s also longer in the torso than most shirts so you’ll never worry about it riding up and showing your crack.  The flat seams and lack of tags also add another level of comfort.

For me I really like the fit of the Woolie.  It’s form fitting so it hugs your body.  When I run or hike I don’t want a loose floppy shirt, (no nipple chafe here).  I think the best selling point for me that makes the Woolie a superior  base layer is the fact it doesn’t hold smell.  I wore this shirt 3 times in one week and you couldn’t tell the difference between the first and third.  No Polypro shirt could say the same.

The 18.5 superfine wool yarn offers a warm, close-to-the-body fit that moves with you and keeps its shape. This award-winning, guide-approved ribbed fabric feels luxurious yet holds up in most rigorous conditions. The rib construction provides space for air permeability contributing to superior performance and excellent stretch and recovery. Naturally odor resistant, or “no stink” is a huge bonus. First layer on, last off, you’ll be so comfortable you’ll forget you’re wearing anything! Machine washable. -Ibex

Pros and Cons: Pros:  Where do I start…Feel, comfort, fit, no smell, superior wicking, excellent stretch and recovery.  The Woolie is washing machine safe (and should be dried with low heat or laid flat).  Cons:  A wider range of colors, lighter ones to be exact would be nice.  If your on a budget you might see the price as a con but like the old saying goes, “You get what you pay for”.  In my mind paying more for wool is a no brainer.  I do it just for the smell factor alone.

Overall:  The Ibex Woolie is like everything else Ibex produces: high quality, comfortable, and functional.  I wish I had one of these shirts for everyday of the week.  If you’re looking for a great base layer that has a form fit then look no further, the Woolie is your first and last stop.
